Police have confirmed that a body discovered by tracks outside Brighton Station on Wednesday has been formally identified as Diogo Moreira.
The sad discovery was made shortly after midday on Wednesday, and yesterday morning his family posted on Facebook that they believed it was him.
The death is being treated as unexplained, and investigations continue.
A memorial walk to celebrate the life of the University of Brighton student and Red Roaster barista is being planned.
This morning, a British Transport Police (BTP) spokesman said: “We can confirm that the body found on the line close to Brighton railway station on Wednesday, 22 July, has been formally identified as Diogo Manuel Martins-Alves-Moreira.
“The 29-year-old student lived locally but was originally from Portugal and had been reported missing to Sussex Police.
Paying tribute to Mr Moreira his family said: “On behalf of everyone who was lucky enough to call Diogo their friend, co-worker, fellow student or warm hearted barista, this is a very big loss for Brighton and our community.
“We will always remember his amazing smile, gentle humour and kindness.
“Our thoughts go out to his family and friends in Portugal.”
The death continues to be treated as unexplained, while officers investigate the full circumstances.
