Two white men shouted racist abuse at an Asian man before launching a vicious attack on him which left him with a broken eye socket.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the assault on a 23-year-old Asian man at the Old Steine, Brighton, on Saturday 27 June.
The victim was walking with a friend by Steine Gardens towards the seafront at 1.50am when two suspects shouted racist comments at him before assaulting him.
He was taken by ambulance to the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton, where he received treatment for a head injury, a fractured eye socket, swelling and bruising.
The first suspect is described as a white man, aged 25 to 30, 6ft and of average build with light coloured hair with a comb over style. He was wearing blue jeans and a white T-shirt.
The second suspect is described as a white man, aged 25 to 30, 5ft 6in and of stocky build. He was wearing blue jeans and was topless.
Detective Constable Vicky Bailey said: “This was a racist attack, please contact us if you have any information which could help with our investigation.”
