The A27 Brighton bypass is to close overnight between Holmbush in Shoreham and the Hangleton interchange.
The overnight closures are due to start from 8pm on Monday (13 July) so that workers can resurface the road.
The closures will affect drivers heading east – towards Brighton – for four nights from 8pm to 6am.
The Highways Agency said that the work would be finished by the end of July and diversion signs would send drivers along the A270 Old Shoreham Road and up the A293 Hangleton link road.
The road will also be closed overnight from 8pm to 6am next Friday (17 July) for two nights for maintenance work in the Southwick Tunnel.
The closure will affect traffic on both sides of the road and the same diversion will be in operation.
