Fiveways parking scheme out to public vote

Plans for a new controlled parking zone in Fiveways and Surrenden are being put to the public vote next week.

Fiveways. Image taken from Google StreetviewResidents and businesses are being asked for their feedback on two schemes, one for five days and another for seven days a week, from 9am to 8pm.

And the council says other options could be considered, subject to committee approval.

All homes, businesses and services in the area will receive details and questionnaires about the proposed scheme, and the survey will be available online here from 6 July.

There will be a staffed exhibition at St Mary’s Catholic Church, 5 Surrenden Road on 22 July between 1pm and 8pm, plus an unstaffed exhibition at Hove Town Hall, in the Customer Service Centre, between 9am and 5pm during the consultation period.

Proposals for the scheme were drawn up following a citywide parking survey carried out last year and councillors gave the go ahead for consultation at the March environment, transport and sustainability committee meeting. Closing date for comments is 14 August.

The council’s transport chair Gill Mitchell said: “During the parking review in 2014 residents asked the council to look into the possibility of a parking scheme in these areas, so we encourage everyone to tell us what they think during the six week consultation.

“All comments we receive will be carefully considered and the results reported to the environment, transport and sustainability committee on 6 October.”

If you are unable to attend the exhibition but would like further technical information please email parking.consultation@brighton-hove.gov.uk or call (01273) 292387.
