A 21-year-old university student from Brighton has died after being hit by a car.
Rebecca Long was knocked over in the early hours of Thursday morning (11 June) and died in hospital on Saturday.
Her death was reported in the Cambridge News which said: “Her family were with her when her life support machine was turned off on Saturday morning, a spokesman from the University of Cambridge said.
“She was a third-year undergraduate studying chemical engineering at Sidney Sussex College.”
Miss Long went to Brighton and Hove High School and Brighton, Hove and Sussex VI Form College (BHASVIC) before going up to Cambridge.
The Cambridge News quoted senior tutor Max Beber as saying: “The college has been shocked and saddened by the news of Rebecca’s death as a result of the injuries (that) occurred in the road traffic collision.
“She was a bright chemical engineering student and played a full part in college life.
“She was a valued friend to many in college and the university and will be much missed.
“The thoughts of everyone at Sidney Sussex are with her friends and family at this difficult time.”
