A van driver has been landed with a £270 bill for just one phone call after he was seen using his mobile behind the wheel in Brighton.
Stephen Baylis, 43, of Upper Brighton Road, Worthing, was caught using his phone while driving an Iveco van along Warren Road, in Woodingdean, by Sussex Police.
At Crawley Magistrates’ Court earlier this month Baylis pleaded guilty to using his mobile phone while driving in October last year.
He was fined £167 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £20 victim surcharge, making £272 in total.
The magistrates also endorsed his driving licence with three penalty points.
