Brighton and Hove foster parents Rob and Mandy Goddard have been made MBEs in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List.
The couple, who live in Peacehaven, have been looking after children for some 22 years.
A spokesman for Brighton and Hove City Council said: “During this time they have looked after more than 65 children, welcoming them into a warm and nurturing home and providing them with a secure base from which they can develop.”
The chair of the council’s Children, Young People and Skills Committee, Councillor Tom Bewick, said: “I’m delighted for Mandy and Rob. They have made a massive contribution over the years, not just in terms of their terrific work with the children they have looked after but also for all the help they have given other foster carers.
“Our foster carers do a fantastic job looking after children who have had a difficult start in life.
“I was fostered myself and know first hand just how vitally important their role is in helping vulnerable children to fulfil their potential.”
