A former Brighton councillor has unseated the long-serving Liberal Democrat MP Norman Baker in Lewes.

She took the seat with 19,206 votes – a majority of 1,083 – or 38 per cent of the votes cast.
Mr Baker, 57, a former minister in the coalition government, polled 18,123 votes or 35.9 per cent. He first won the seat in 1997.
Ray Finch, a Member of the European Parliament who used to work in a Portslade factory, came third for UKIP with 5,427 votes.
Lloyd Russell-Moyle, for Labour, finished fourth with 5,000 votes and Alfie Stirling, for the Greens, came fifth with 2,784.

And what, beyond the winning smiley charm, do voters imagine they have bought with their votes? Lewes, you will regret dumping Norman Baker.
