A self-service bargain shoe shop has opened in the old Top Shop store in Brighton’s Western Road today.
Deichmann shoes, Europe’s biggest cobbler, has spent £440,000 doing up the shop, which has all the stock available on the shop floor.
It has created 18 permanent jobs, including two supervisor positions in addition to shop floor and cashier roles, and is currently recruiting.
Rozanna Mahmood, Store Manager of Deichmann Brighton, said: “We’re really excited to have opened our doors in Brighton and are thrilled to have been able to help create some new local jobs.
“We’re looking forward to getting to know all the local shoppers and hopefully becoming a well-loved fixture on the high street.”
Deichmann’s own brand shoes start at just £5.99, with real leather products starting at £24.99.
Its range also includes collaborations with top-end designers and celebrities, including Halle Berry.
