A public vote to decide which new names should be featured on the front of Brighton and Hove’s buses closes today.
The bus company asked the public to submit nominations for 24 new Coaster buses soon to be introduced on service 12.
It has already selected fifteen names from over one hundred submissions, but is asking for a public vote on the final nine names.
Voters will be asked to pick three names from four shortlists with the top two names from each list being successfully selected.
The main criterion for the competition and shortlisting was that the person had to have made a significant contribution to the area or had a strong connection during their lifetime and has been deceased for at least a year.
Managing Director Martin Harris said: “We really value our links with the communities we serve and as the naming of our existing fleet has proved so popular since we first introduced it in the city in 1999, we thought that the arrival of our new buses marked an ideal time to open up the opportunity to honour local people along the scenic coaster route.”

I would like to see Caroline Lucas, people’s champion. She has done wonders for the people of Brighton and Hove.
She’s embarrassed us!
