1) The Seagulls can no longer make the play-offs. The maximum points that the Albion can now obtain is 66. Ipswich in the last play-off place are already on 67. The Seagulls are 10 points clear of the relegation zone and need 12 more points from 21 to be sure of avoiding the drop.
2) It was Albion’s first victory at Ewood Park since September 1990 although Blackburn haven’t beaten the Seagulls since March 1992.
3) Seagulls captain Gordon Greer will now meet up with the Scotland squad in preparation for the forthcoming games against Northern Ireland and Gibraltar, as confirmed to Brighton and Hove News by Scotland assistant manager and ex-Albion boss Mark McGhee during a chance meeting near the Seven Dials.
4) Albion are in great current form. Only Leeds United better Albion’s recent run of results in the bottom half of the Championship table. And with the exception of Cardiff City the Seagulls have a better goal difference than any club up to Charlton Athletic in 11th place and are a massive 45 goals better off than bottom-placed Blackpool.
5) The last Albion player to score from open play away from home was Rohan Ince against Charlton Athletic on Saturday 10 January.
