A wanted man was caught by police in Brighton who were targeting drivers flouting the law.
The 20-year-old man was stopped after officers from Sussex Police suspected that he had been using his mobile phone while driving his Mercedes A140.
They stopped him in Montreal Road, in Hanover, at lunchtime on Wednesday (11 March) and arrested him on suspicion of drug driving and obstructing a police officer.
The arrested man, who comes from London, turned out to be wanted by the Metropolitan Police on suspicion of wounding after an incident in Brixton in November.
He was bailed by the Sussex force until Monday 20 April.
Chief Inspector Phil Nicholas, of the Surrey and Sussex Roads Policing Unit, said: “This was another good arrest that came about because of the instincts of our officers.
“We will not tolerate drug driving and would urge anyone who thinks they know someone who is driving after taking drugs to contact us urgently so that we can act.”
