The Brighton RNLI crew towed a yacht back to Brighton Marina today after it suffered an engine failure.
The skipper of the 10.7 metre yacht had been on is way from the marina to Newhaven to take part in the Armistice commemorations there.
Smoke or steam began rising from the engine room so the single-handed yachtsman disabled the engine and called for help.
The Brighton lifeboat was on a training exercise when the call came in just before 11.30am today.
They reached the vessel, about half a mile south east of the marina, within minutes and, by noon, had managed to tow the yacht safely back to base.
