One of the main roads into and out of Brighton has been closed after a crash in icy conditions this morning (Tuesday 30 December).
It was one of a number of incidents on the slippery road, according to Sussex Police.
The force said: “Icy conditions have led to the closure of part of Ditchling Road, Brighton, in the Hollingbury Park area, north of Woodbourne Avenue.
“Just after 8am a spate of incidents occurred, including a minor injury crash, as drivers struggled to cope with slippery conditions.
“The road was closed at 8.45am while highways engineers regritted the road surface. It was reopened to traffic at 11.16am.”
I wonder when the highway engineers gritted ditchling road the first time as I drove up and down that stretch of road numerous times Monday night /Tuesday morning for work purposes and there was no signs of gritters or grit spread on the road at all? Yet somehow they managed to Re-grit after the accidents?
