The 101 phone line is working again – as is the 111 NHS number and the RAC’s breakdown number.
They were out for several hours today (Saturday 22 November) after Vodafone suffered what the RAC described as “a catastrophic failure”.
Sussex Police was among 23 police forces affected by the problem with callers advised to 01273 470101.
Telecoms regulator Ofcom said that it was investigating “as a matter of urgency”.
Emergency calls made to the 999 number were unaffected.
Vodafone apologised and said that it was investigating the matter which affected lines from 4am. It said that all its lines were working again by 1pm.
