A scooter driver was taken to hospital after a crash with a car outside the Gala Bingo Hill which closed Eastern Road this morning.
Ambulances and other vehicles were diverted after the accident near the Royal Sussex County Hospital at about 9am today (Thursday 2 October).
The accident happened on a section of road where there are currently roadworks as bus and cycle lanes are created.
A police spokeswoman said: “Emergency services are dealing with a two vehicle collision in Eastern Road, Brighton, which occurred at 9am on Thursday (2 October).
“A car and a Vesper scooter collided at College Court in Eastern Road. The scooter driver, a woman, has suffered injuries and has been taken to hospital. The road is blocked and there are delays in the area.”
It was cleared in less than hour having led to congestion in Kemp Town and the narrow surrounding streets.

how on earth can anyone manage to crash on a straight wide 30mph road with perfect visibility in broad daylight?
I saw the crash this morning and it happened short of the roadworks. Do not use them as an excuse to justify dangerous driving and/or mistakes by either party. This was likely a dangerously close pass or a SMIDSY.
