The Co-op in Whitehawk has been cordoned off after burglars broke in in the early hours of the morning.
Sussex Police said: “We were contacted after the burglar alarm was set off at Co-op in Whitehawk Road, Whitehawk, at 2am today (Tuesday 23 September).
“Intruders forced their way into the shop while it was closed and took a quantity of cigarettes and alcohol.
“At this stage we are still trying to confirm exactly what was stolen. Crime scene investigators are currently at the scene collecting evidence.
