A Brighton man has been convicted of driving while under the influence of ketamine after he crashed his car in the middle of the afternoon.
Thomas Cranstone, 32, was arrested at 2.15pm on Friday 13 December after he crashed his car in Beaconsfield Road, Brighton, and admitted to officers at the scene that he had taken ketamine.
Cranstone, of Denton Drive, Brighton, was convicted of driving while unfit through drugs. He was banned from driving for 17 months and ordered to pay a £450 fine, £400 costs and a £45 victim surcharge.
Superintendent Jane Derrick said: “Taking drugs and then driving is not only dangerous and puts you and other road users at risk but if we catch you it could cost you your licence, which could have a dramatic effect on your life.”
A total of 130 people have so far been convicted of offences as part of Sussex Police’s December crackdown on drink and drug driving.

It’s no isolated case. Everyday I see people driving like idiots or maniacs, and I just think “I bet they’re on drugs”. (Well, unless they’re taxi drivers – then I just think they *are* idiots or maniacs.)
