A swimmer is being given CPR (heart-ling resuscitation) on Hove beach after a suspected heart attack this afternoon (Friday 5 September).
The man is currently in the care of paramedics, with lifeguards and police also in attendance, near the King Alfred Leisure Centre.
A police spokeswoman said: “Emergency services were called shortly before 4pm to the beach near the King Alfred Centre in Hove to a man who was having a medical episode, believed to be a cardiac arrest.”
A witness said the man was swimming in the sea with a younger woman. The woman is now wrapped in a blanket is is also being cared for by paramedics.
A spokesman for the South East Coast Ambulance Service said that a car and two ambulance crews had been sent to the scene.
