A woman was raped in a seafront doorway in the early hours of yesterday morning (Tuesday 28 January).
The 18-year-old had been on a night out with friends when she was attacked.
Sussex Police said: “She was in a doorway near the seafront when two black men approached her. One of the men then raped her.
“The victim is uncertain exactly where the assault happened but detectives believe it was in the area around Middle Street, King’s Road and the southern end of West Street.
“It happened between 3.30am and 4.30am yesterday.”
Detective Inspector Julie Wakeford said: “The victim is understandably traumatised by what has happened to her.
“We desperately need to speak to anyone who might know anything about what happened.
“They may have seen her in the doorway talking to a white man she had left the Coalition night club with before she was attacked or they may have seen the two black men leaving after the assault.
“Whatever you saw, no matter what it was, please contact us urgently.”
