Nick Cave escaped unhurt last night after crashing his Jaguar into a speed camera on Hove seafront – although the same cannot be said for the camera.
The singer, writer and director was travelling along Kingsway at about 7pm last night with his twin ten-year-old sons on board when the accident happened.
Sussex Police say nobody has been arrested and enquiries are continuing. A spokeswoman said: “Police were called to Kingsway, Hove, at 7pm on Tuesday, 7 December, after a Jaguar saloon car driven by a 53-year old Hove man had collided with a speed camera and roadside barrier on the eastbound carriageway.
“The man and his two 10-year old sons who were in the car were unhurt. No other vehicles or people were involved.
“The camera belongs to the Sussex Safer Roads Partnership, not the police, and the railings belong to the local Highway authority. Both agencies were informed. Nobody has been arrested but police enquiries are continuing.”
Nick Cave was born in Australia, but is now one of Hove’s best-known residents.
