A bogus caller has stolen £2,000 from a pensioner in Hove during a distraction burglary.
The conman called on his elderly victim at his home in Kingston Close in Hangleton offering a gardening service.
The victim, a man in his eighties, let the man into his home and after a short conversation he refused the service.
After the man had left, the victim realised that the money had gone missing.
The offender is described as white, aged between 50 and 60 years old, with a local accent.
He called at about 1.30pm last Wednesday (17 November).
DC Cheryl Lewendon, of Brighton and Hove CID, said: “Anyone who turns up on your doorstep unplanned should be treated suspiciously until they prove otherwise.
“If you are not happy with the caller and your suspicions are aroused call Sussex Police on 0845 6070999 or in an emergency dial 999.”
