A Brighton seafront chippy is facing a fine after failing to combat a mouse infestation.
Seagull restaurant on Madeira Drive pleaded guilty to failing to control pests and ensure its food was no unfit for human consumption.
Inspectors from Brighton and Hove City Council found there was a active mouse infestation with open sacks of corn and flour being stored in an unlidded container, and mouse droppings on a shelf used to store saucepans.
They also found holes in the ceiling, mould, and discovered staff had not been properly trained.
Cloudless Ltd admitted seven charges at Brighton Magistrates’ Court last week, and similar charges against its sole director Trevor Archard were subsequently dropped.
The case was adjourned until September 11 so that the company’s finances could be assessed before a fine is issued.
Brighton and Hove News attempted to contact Trevor Archard for comment but has not been able to reach him to date.
Only a fine?!
