A picture poking affectionate fun at the Brighton i360 has became an internet hit on the day the real thing celebrated its groundbreaking ceremony.
Alex Bamford posted this picture on Twitter at 2.30pm, just as the ground was broken a few metres down the beach – and within a few hours, scores of people had retweeted or favourited it.

The Brighton photographer said: “I am pro i360 but my friends and I feel it should have been named the flying doughnut.”

It’s going to be wonderful, especially for people like me who use wheelchairs. New developments comply to the legal disability access rules, which is great news for Brighton & Hove which by its historic nature is not very accessible!
