A Brighton businesswoman is one of the 12 hopefuls competing in this year’s Great British Bake Off.
Kate, 41, lives in Brighton with her five-year-old daughter Eloise and runs an upholstery company here.
The show organisers say that after wanting to become an actress, she changed direction and started the company.
Kate organises street parties every year and she likes to bake for her family, last year baking 15 Christmas cakes.
She only rarely uses recipes or weighs ingredients.
You can read more on her profile page here.
This afternoon, she tweeted that she was excited to be appearing on the show.
Excited about #gbbo but for the next few days these are the only #soggybottoms I’ll be worrying about @britishbakeoff pic.twitter.com/TQYfuzxTvo

Do you know Kate? More importantly, have you tasted on of her cakes? Or been to one of her street parties? Let us know in the comments below.
Kate’s cooking is amazing, I have tasted her delicious Christmas cake, stunning Victoria sponge with white chocolate ganache and raspberries, fantastic pavlova and an array of sublime savouries and petit fours. Kate is an amazing lady, truly selfless and always underestimates the wonder/ wow factor of her baking. She really is a baking queen and is always willing to help or advise on baking issues. Kate’s street parties are full of fun and deliciously tempting cakes, she is the loveliest friend I have and she deserves to go all the way in The Great British Bake Off. Her baking is from the heart and soul and is both ingenious and magical. Her blending of flavours and textures is pure alchemy and I cannot praise her too highly, she a a very rare type of person, so very very lovely and special and so talented and modest .

Kate is a bundle of positive energy. Over the last few years she has been part of a local drive in Brighton to buy a local church hall for the community. We succeeded and one of Kate’s initiatives was to bake stunning biscuits in the shape of Exeter Street Hall, to help raise funds for the campaign. She is a gifted, creative baker. Go Kate!
