A Brighton-based children’s charity has announced the appointment of a new chief executive.
Rockinghorse has named Claire Ross-Baker, 44, as the woman who will take over the top job a few weeks before Christmas.
She joins Rockinghorse after nearly four years as head of fundraising and marketing for the Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity, a national charity based in Leatherhead, Surrey.
She brings with her a total of 21 years experience working in the voluntary sector, including with Save the Children and Oxfam.
Rockinghorse chairman Gordon Diaz said: “We’re delighted to welcome someone with Claire’s experience to the team and look forward to moving forward in the new year.”
Claire Ross-Baker said: “I am looking forward to joining such a fantastic organisation as Rockinghorse at a key time in its development and I am passionate about using my experience in the voluntary sector to make a real difference for sick children and their families in Sussex and Surrey.”
She starts on Monday 6 December and takes over from Gavin Fisher, who left Rockinghorse in the summer to run the Children’s Respite Trust, in Burwash Common, East Sussex.
Rockinghorse, based in Prince Albert Street, Brighton, raises money for sick children and their families in Sussex and Surrey.
Many of the children that the charity supports live with life-threatening conditions, profound physical or learning disabilities, mental health problems or have complex medical needs.
It has long had links with the Trevor Mann Baby Unit at the Royal Sussex County Hospital and with the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital.
