Geoffrey Theobald has been re-elected unopposed for the third year in a row as leader of Brighton and Hove City Council’s Conservative group.
The group’s two deputy leaders Woodingdean councillor, Dee Simson, and Wish councillor Garry Peltzer Dunn were also re-elected without challenge.
The Conservative Group is the council’s official opposition, holding 18 out of the 54 seats.
Coun Theobald said: “I am delighted that my colleagues have given me the honour of leading the Conservative group for the fourth year and I would like to thank them for their continued support.
“Unlike the other two political groups I have a united team behind me and we are confident as we begin the countdown to the 2015 locaelections.”
Coun Simson added: “It is great that my group colleagues have given me another vote of confidence and I look forward to repaying their faith in me.
“Both the Green and Labour Groups seem to be riddled with internal divisions at the moment and so I think that residents will appreciate having the choice, in the Conservatives, of a focussed and united party with a clear purpose for 2015.”
Coun Peltzer Dunn added: “I have thoroughly enjoyed being the group’s deputy leader for the past three years and so I’m delighted to be able to continue in the role. The countdown to 2015 begins now!”
The Conservatives are as split as everyone else! How could they not be when your membership is so low you have beg anyone to stand for election.
