A motorcyclist has been injured in a serious accident on the A27 at Hangleton, which closed the road for more than four hours.
A car and a motorbike crashed on the eastbound carriageway between the A293 and A2038 King George VI Avenue shortly after 5pm.
The westbound carriageway was also closed for the air ambulance to land, and reopened shortly after 7pm.
The eastbound carriageway was closed until 9.15pm, causing delays of about 90 minutes.
Another crash closed the westbound lane at the Shoreham Flyover, which did not reopen until 9.20pm. And there was also a two-vehicle crash on the westbound A27 Lewes bypass, which is causing even more tailbacks. This was cleared shortly after 8pm.
Brighton and Hove Buses had to stop the 77 service as it cannot get to Devil’s Dyke thanks to the road closures. The 27 service was also affected.
The King Edward Avenue in Worthing is also closed by the A24 Broadwater Road due to a serious blaze in a block of flats.
