A 54-year-old Brighton man has been arrested in London after failing to answer bail to be charged with having child porn.
Brian Rogers was held after an appeal through the media yesterday (Tuesday 27 August) by Sussex Police.
Rogers had been living at addresses in Brighton and Eastbourne in the past two years but was believed to be in London when police issued an appeal to trace him.
Before his arrest Detective Inspector Lee Horner said: “Extensive inquiries have been made to find this man and active inquiries are still continuing but so far these have failed to reveal his current location.
“His details have been circulated to every police force in the UK and beyond via Interpol as a matter of standard procedure in such cases.
“Although there is no immediate threat to the wider public, we believe Rogers may try to befriend families of young girls and boys, and we are concerned that he may manipulate relationships for his own advantage.
“There is no evidence that he has carried out any contact offending relating to the offence currently under investigation.
“The images involved come from the internet and are not believed to be of local children.
“However, police remain concerned about the potential risk Rogers poses while his whereabouts are unknown and he is unmonitored.”
