A lorry carrying a trailer laden with portable toilets jack-knifed on the A27 Brighton bypass during the evening rush-hour.
Drivers were inconvenienced for almost three hours by the accident.
Sussex Police said: “The trailer was carrying portable toilets and a quantity of blue loo chemical wash spilled on to the road.”
The accident happened on the eastbound side of the road at Hollingbury at about 5.20pm yesterday afternoon (Thursday 4 July).
The lorry driver suffered minor injuries.
The incident caused long tailbacks back to Patcham. The road reopened at 8.10pm once the trailer had been removed and the spillage had been cleaned off the road.
Toilets. It is a dirty word, and a dirty thing, and toilets shouldn’t really be mentioned in ‘polite society’. Having said that, I’m glad the lorry driver is ok
