The body of a man from Brighton was found on the beach by a dog walker this morning (Saturday 29 December).
The man, who was believed to be in his forties and who has yet to be formally identified, was found near Saltdean Lido at about 8.30am.
Sussex Police said that his death was not being treated as suspicious although no cause of death was given.
A spokesman said: “We are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen the man in the time before his death.
“Anyone who was in the area of the undercliff between 7am and 8.30am and who may have seen a man described as stocky, white, with short grey hair and wearing a blue hooded top with writing and blue jeans is asked to contact police on 101.”
