A man has appeared in court charged with robbing two betting shops in Hove.
Mark Pollard, 31, is accused of holding up two branches of Ladbrokes in the town last Thursday (5 July) and has also been charged with having a knife.
Sussex Police said that he was arrested in Storrington Close, Hangleton, in the early hours of yesterday (Sunday 8 July).
He was brought before the bench at Brighton Magistrates’ Court today (Monday 9 July) and told that he will be kept in custody until October.
Sussex Police said that it had recovered some of the money stolen in the two robberies – in Portland Road and Church Road. The total was said last week to be several hundred pounds.
