Three boys from Brighton have been arrested after a 19-year-old man suffered life-threatening injuries in an attack in Rottingdean last night (Saturday 14 April).
The victim, who is from Brighton, was taken to Royal Sussex County Hospital suffering from head injuries. He remains in a critical condition.
The boys – a 13-year-old and two 14-year-olds – were arrested on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm (GBH).
Sussex Police said that they were still in custody this morning (Sunday 15 April).
They were held shortly after a fight between two groups in West Street, Rottingdean, between 10.30pm and 11pm last night.
Detective Chief Inspector Nick May, from the Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team, said: “We believe the victim has been punched during this assault and the force of the blow has caused him substantial injuries.
“This incident took place between two different groups and some members of each group were known to each other.
“The scene is currently cordoned off while we investigate the circumstances and I would like to thank local residents for their patience and understanding at this time.”
