Caroline Lucas has become the first ever Green Party MP after winning in Brighton Pavilion with 16,238 votes.
Labour’s Nancy Platts was second on 14,986 ahead of Conservative Charlotte Vere on 12,275 and Lib Dem Berni Millam on 7,159. Nigel Carter for UKIP received 948 votes, Ian Fyvie of the Socialist Labour Party had 158, Soraya Kara of Citizens for Undead Rights and Equality received 61 votes and independent Leo Atreides had 19.
