A Brighton man suffered a broken jaw when he was attacked by two men in London Road.
The victim, 32, was hit in the face by one of the two men.
The attack continued round the corner in St Peter’s Street, Brighton, behind Aldi and near the Hobgoblin pub.
He was hit repeatedly in the face by both men before being taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton.
The victim had been with a group of people, including the two suspects, earlier that day at The Level.
He had also been drinking with them in the street before the fight.
Sussex Police has urge witnesses to come forward.
PC Tanya Gravenor said: “The victim spent time with a noticeable group of people, which includes a woman in a wheelchair and a woman with long blonde hair carrying a small dog.
“I am keen to speak to these women and to a number of people who passed by as the assault took place, namely the driver of a convertible car and a group of people carrying pool cues.
“They may have heard or seen something of importance to this case and I’d urge them to contact us immediately.”
The first suspect is described as white, wearing a red pullover and jeans.
The second suspect is described as white, with short dark brown hair, blue/green eyes, wearing a brown top and blue trousers, possibly jeans.
