Two men and a woman have been arrested in drugs raids at two properties in Brighton, Sussex Police said yesterday (Friday 26 June).
The raids, in Bevendean and Moulsecoomb, were carried out by the Tactical Enforcement Unit set up last December to target the most prolific offenders.
Sussex Police said: “They carried out two separate drugs warrants in Brighton – one in Auckland Drive where a 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of class A drugs, possession of cannabis, a domestic assault and an assault.
“The team discovered several bags of white powder, cash and mobile phones.
“He was later released under investigation pending more inquiries.
“The other warrant was in Stonecross Road where the team carried out a warrant where a man and a woman were arrested on suspicion of supplying cannabis.
“Drugs, cash and weapons including flick knives were seized.
“A man aged 20 and a woman aged 44 were later released under investigation.”
Sussex Police said that the Tactical Enforcement Unit teams were made up of eight PCs and a Sergeant.
The unit is expected to expand again next month, with dedicated teams in the Brighton and Hove and East Sussex divisions.
The officer in charge of the unit, Inspector Dan Hiles, said: “The TEU has been created to disrupt, enforce and protect and that’s what the teams have been doing.
“The first TEU team which was set up at the end of December made 19 arrests, carried out 91 stop and searches, targeting serious and organised criminals, and created 75 intelligence reports in May alone.
“There is no officer who enjoys the idea of a criminal evading justice. The unit was set up to target exactly those people, while helping to keep communities safe.”
I wish Sussex Police would leave drug dealers alone. They are providing a vital service to their communities.
Hey Matt, I guess you are being cynical.
I live in decent flats where drug dealers also dwell.Housing Ass’ can’t do much and neither the police. It makes people lives hell.
And all those naughty men, about your age and looks who shove drugs up their noses, well!
Matt … REALLY? providing a service to local communities??? Grow up ! Families are blown apart living with worry and trauma of their kids being introduced to drugs, the heartache it causes, the rifts, the stealing to enable them to get drugs, even violence, kids even dying. unsubscribed drugs are evil, and so are the people dealing them.
What an idiotic thing to say. I am saying goodbye to my brother today due to these drug dealers.
sorry to hear about your brother
