A community liaison coordinator has been appointed for Edward Street Quarter, the £120 million redevelopment of the former AMEX House in Brighton.
Gitana Harfleet, who has lived locally for 15 years, will act as the key point of contact for local residents throughout the duration of the build, which has a target of completion by autumn 2021.
Gitana will handle all community engagement matters relating to the development; dealing with resident’s enquiries, producing newsletters and attending community events and meetings on behalf of McLaren Construction, the key delivery partner for the development.
Steve Eccles, Project Director at developer First Base, said: “Ongoing communication with local residents is a key priority for us, especially while construction work is underway.
“Gitana knows the area extremely well, she has over six years’ experience in local customer facing roles and has worked on other McLaren projects in the region, so we’re confident in her ability to hit the ground running.”
Gitana will assist First Base and McLaren in delivering their social value strategy which aims to bring the city an additional value of £500 million within the next 20 years.
She added: “I’m looking forward to getting to know the community around the Edward Street Quarter site over the coming months and will do everything I can to make the two-year build as positive an experience for them as possible.”
With work underway, Edward Street Quarter is set to become a vibrant new social hub for the city, encompassing 110,000 sq ft of Grade A office space, 39,000 sq ft of retail, food, beverage and leisure units and 168 new apartments.
