Up to 5cm rain and thunderstorms could hit Brighton and Hove tomorrow night, Met Office warns

A band of torrential rain is due to sweep over Brighton and Hove tomorrow, the Met Office is warning.

A yellow, be aware warning was issued this afternoon, coming into force from 2am tomorrow to 6am on Friday.

It says: “A couple of bands of rain, heavy in places, will push northwards across southern England and south Wales during Thursday and early on Friday.

“Whilst a drier interlude is likely for a time during the middle part of Thursday, many places in the warning area will see 15-25 mm of rain accumulate during this period.

“However, some higher ground areas of southern England and south Wales could see as much as 35-45 mm of rain.”

There is not going to be torrential rain. That is simply untrue. The Met office is warning of “periods of heavy rain” and nothing worse than that, and nothing unusual for the time of year.

Headline should read “sewage poised to be dumped in the sea”

…that is what torrential means, Julian.

There wasn’t torrential rain. Torrential rain was not predicted by the Met Office. They predicted rain, with some periods of heavy rain. Today it rained. It was quite heavy for a little while. It was normal for February. It was unremarkable. There were no torrents and there was nothing torrential.

That was a torrential use of torrents. I approve!

All weather is a serious scare now, a result of it all being our fault causing global pollution.
I’m sure it has little to do with Joe public but we will pay the big price Allegedly for net zero.
Mean while we shall experience a life of fear and anxiety over food and heating costs on our minimum wage £10.25 per hour.
I recall as a child in Ireland in the winter real storms, I had to crawl along the roads the wind would blow me over!!!
