Peacehaven MP welcomes constituency name change

Lloyd Russell-Moyle

A Brighton MP says the renaming of his constituency to include an integral part of it “rights a historical wrong”.

Brighton Kemptown will become Brighton Kemptown and Peacehaven from the next election.

It will also gain a handful of roads from the Brighton Pavilion constituency which make up the Pankhurst Estate to the north east of Hanover – including a road immortalised in the 2009 film Down Terrace.

The constituency’s sitting MP Lloyd Russell-Moyle said: “After writing to the Boundary Commission about this, I am delighted to include the name Peacehaven into my constituency.

“Those of you who receive my election leaflets will know I’ve been doing this for years but it was never in the formal name.

“This change rightly now recognises that the constituency crosses local authority boundaries with Peacehaven and Telscombe being the second largest combined town in Lewes District.

“This is something I am extremely proud of as a previous administrator for the East Sussex Youth Service and then as a youth participation worker in Peacehaven. This name change rights a historical wrong.”

The change was ratified by Parliament in November last year.

I hope that he does more for you than he has for us in kemp Town, he has his favourites he looks after
But the rest never see anything of him.
He supposed to have support for youth services but is not concerned with residents suffering Anti Social Behaviour from these groups.
Now there are elections in the future he may be seen around

Absolutely agree. We’re in Saltdean and he’s totally invisible here. No idea what he does

You only have to look at his social media and his voting record to see he works hard all around the constituency and in Parliament. You can’t expect to bump into him, to just happen to be in the same place at the same time, though; he’s only one person. And the evidence driven way to reduce ASB by young people is to provide more youth services. If you want to complain about specific incidents, you want the council.

Is his social media account just of him going around places with a happy groupie smile photo and some meaningless message about how great the day was? 😒

        Ste,
        Just PMSL with your comment.
Can you highlight what he has done for the constituency and in parliament.
All he done is support his own self centered interests and walk off with the mace. Yes great work.
Can’t even be bothered to reply to e-mails.

“The change was ratified by Parliament in November last year.”

    No it wasn’t

Following a change in the law a couple of years ago Parliament has zero role in approving (or not) the new boundaries.

The law says that the Privy Council approves them after government lawyers convert the Bounday Commission boundaries into an Order in Council for the King to sign.

Politicians have always been a questionable subspecies of human. At the moment we seem to be experiencing globally a period of particularly poor quality applicants for the job. The one featured above is a prime example, being a creature of Corbyn and under the control of Momentum.

MP’s are just a reflection of their constituents. After all that’s who votes them in power. The other problem is voters just expect somebody else to find the solutions.

MP’s pledge what they are going to do and what policies they will cover and tell residents they will do what they can to help with any problems, that is what they are paid to do, represent residents and help find solutions you twit.

A little tinkering does not impress. What we need is a total reform of the ‘democratic’ system from top to bottom

Lloyd is an exceptional MP. He responds promptly to me when I contact him and he speaks up for the constituency. Wish more Labour MPs were like him rather than the Blairite Starmeroid Red Tory drones that we see on TV.

Lloyd is a foolish overgrown public schoolboy who’s proven himself to be quite nasty should you dare to disagree with his views. I’ve only had cause to contact him once and it took six weeks to recevie an unhelpful reply from one of his staff. If you wish more Labour MPs were like Lloyd, you must really enjoy being in opposition!

Overall LRM is a childish oaf with a very vile nasty streak and the sooner he’s kicked out the better.

Ah yes, the one thing that EVERYONE remembers about Lloyd. But nothing to any of his other work, like healthcare accessibility for LGBT in Brighton, for example. Excellent straw-manning Matt.

          Benjamin,
There’s no denying Lloyd has done some good work for the group you mention however, his actions are self centered and affect him personally, other groups have discovered he is the invisible man as some have mentioned on here.
When one sends e-mails that go unanswered and you have to resort to contacting another MP and get a response within a few days (Caroline Lucas ) you have to question why LRM is an MP in the first place, he’s done nothing of any note for the majority.
