An eldery driver who reversed his car into a man on a mobility scooter then left the scene has been ordered to pay his victim £500.
Mohsen Sheikhan, 72, crashed into David Murtagh when he was reversing his Nissan Note the wrong way down Maytree Walk, a one-way street.
Mr Murtagh was left with deep cuts to his legs as a result of the crash, which happened at about 7.50pm on February 10.
Sheikhan, of Staplefield Drive, Brighton, did not wait for police to arrive, but was found by officers soon afterwards and arrested.
On 9 November, he appeared for sentence at Brighton Magistrates Court, having pleaded guilty on 21 September at the same court.
District judge Amanda Kelly gave him a 12-month conditional discharge and a mandatory 12-month driving ban, starting from the date he pleaded guilty, when an interim ban was made.
