Brighton and Hove firefighters were called out to help tackle a garage blaze in Newhaven late last night (Friday 17 February).
Crews were first called out to the fire in Quarry Road, Newhaven, just before 11.40pm.
They were joined by colleagues from the fire stations at Preston Circus and Roedean, in Brighton, as well as from Hove.
East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said today: “Crews were called to a fire at a car garage, Quarry Road, Newhaven, at 11.38pm on Friday night (17 February).
“At the height of the incident fire appliances from Newhaven, Roedean, Seaford, Lewes, Hove, Eastbourne, Barcombe, Brighton Preston Circus and Uckfield were in attendance.
“As of 6am, three appliances remain on the scene.”
Earlier the fire service said: “Crews are currently dealing with a fire at an industrial premises on Quarry Road, Newhaven.
“Eight fire appliances, including the high-volume pump, are at the incident.
“Local residents should keep doors and windows closed. Please avoid the area.”
