Brighton and Hove Albion 0 Tottenham Hotspur 8
Tottenham Hotspur thrashed Brighton and Hove Albion 8-0 in their WSL match at the Broadfield Stadium, in Crawley, this afternoon (Sunday 30 October).
Spurs scored four goals in each half to inflict the worst defeat that Albion have suffered in their WSL history.
Molly Bartrip opened the scoring in the second minute and, before the break, Nikola Karczewska, Ashleigh Neville and Drew Spence had built on the visitors’ lead.
Spurs bagged three goals in four minutes early in the second half. Neville and Spence each scored a second before substitute Jessica Naz nabbed two of her own.
She lobbed Meg Walsh from 35 yards to make it 7-0 and struck again just over five minutes from the end to round off a convincing victory.
Tottenham move up to fifth place in the WSL table, with nine points from five games. They are level on points with Manchester City but – despite their eight-goal win – behind on goal difference.
Brighton are 11th, with just three points from their single win in five matches so far this season. Only Leicester have made a worse start, suffering six straight defeats.
Next Sunday (6 November), Albion are due to face West Ham United in London. Like Spurs, the seventh-place Hammers have nine points although they have played six games rather than five.
