SKYND’s music, theatre and art performance is coming to Brighton

SKYND are heading to Brighton

SKYND is the creative outlet of two people – singer SKYND and producer/multi-instrumentalist F.

We all conceal something behind the earthly façade we show to the world. Maybe it’s an unspoken fetish. Perhaps it’s a covetous urge. Or it could just be the kind of darkness we acknowledge in passing – but don’t dare reference out loud. SKYND peel back those layers and uncover what lurks beneath in all of its painful glory. The industrialized gothic electronic duo – Skynd [lead vocals] and “Father” [producer, multi-instrumentalist] – exorcize beauty by bloodletting as they mine some of history’s most baffling, bizarre, and brutal crimes across their Chapter I, Chapter II and Chapter III EP.

SKYND appeared live in Brighton in 2019 as part of The Great Escape new music festival. That year the Brighton & Hove News Music Team witnessed exactly 100 live performances across the three day festival. For the SKYND performance, photographer/reviewer Cris Watkins reported thus:

SKYND

“It’s 12.45 in the morning at the Green Door Store where after more than 12 hours of live music today I’m dead on my feet, but oh what a pick-me-up SKYND is.
This is more like a trip to a dark theatre with both the drummer and bassist wearing hoodies with masks covering their spotlighted faces and SKYND herself eerily lit in waves of green and red lights a huge slit mouth on a painted face rising from the smoke”.

“Electro-industrial beats fill the air with what seems to be sound recordings of news footage of the aftermath of a serial killing, then her voice cuts through the smoke and sound, haunting and powerful at the same time. I see others in the crowd stare at each other with the same look of wonder on their faces that I surely have. This is music, theatre and art tightly rolled into one horrific, unsettling but ultimately beautiful show.
SKYND has been the perfect way to end my first day of this year’s TGE”.
