A five-storey supported housing block for 96 homeless people was evacuated after a fire broke out early on Sunday (20 February).
The fire service received a 999 call at 6.23am, reporting a fire on the first floor of William Collier House, in North Road, Brighton.
Two fire engines from Preston Circus and another from Roedean were sent to the YMCA Brighton building.
East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said that the cause of the fire was accidental although it was not yet known exactly how it started.
Sussex Police joined fire investigators as they worked to establish the cause of the blaze.
There were no injuries and everyone was accounted for, the fire service said.
The fire was put out by 6.55am.
