A Portslade man has been given a suspended prison sentence for stalking by a judge at Hove Crown Court.
Ashley Hobden, 36, of Valley Road, Portslade, pleaded guilty to stalking Heliese Hyatt at Benson Court, in Ingram Crescent East, Hove, between dates in April and June.
The court was told that Hobden’s stalking and harassment caused Ms Hyatt to fear that violence would be used against her.
Hobden “contacted Heliese on a number of occasions by phone, made threats to kill her and set her on fire – and assaulted her”.
On Wednesday (15 December), Judge Jeremy Gold sentenced Hobden to eight months in prison suspended for two years.
