A Brighton doorman has been charged with raping two women and must await trial in prison on remand.
Sarjo Jatta, 43, of Eldred Avenue, Brighton, has also been accused of carrying out a number of sex attacks in the town.
In all, he was accused of targeting three women at three different addresses over a decade when he appeared before Judge Mark van der Zwart at Lewes Crown Court two days ago.
Sussex Police said: “A man has been charged with sexual offences against three women at separate addresses in Brighton, including two rapes.
“Sarjo Jatta, 43, a doorman, of Eldred Avenue, Brighton, appeared at Lewes Crown Court on Friday (6 March) having been sent for trial by Brighton magistrates on the previous day.
“Jatta is charged with four counts of sexual assault on a woman aged 19 during December 2011, the rape of a woman aged 18 on (Friday) 18 August 2017, and the rape, sexual assault, and false imprisonment of a woman aged 22 on (Saturday) 8 February 2020.
“At the crown court hearing Jatta did not enter a plea and was remanded in custody for a plea and case management hearing on (Thursday) 2 April.
“The prosecution, authorised by the CPS (Crown Prosecution Service), follows an investigation by detectives from the Brighton Safeguarding Investigations Unit.”
