Sussex Police said that they had managed to trace a man who was attacked in the centre of Brighton, near the Prince Regent swimming pool, at the weekend.
There were concerns about the extent of his injuries.
The force said: “Police investigating an assault in Brighton have now identified the victim following a CCTV appeal.
“Officers were called to Barrack Yard, next to the Prince Regent Swimming Complex, just after 1pm on Saturday (8 February).
“Police issued a CCTV appeal in a bid to trace the victim, who has since been identified.
“He suffered minor injuries in the assault.
“Anyone who witnessed the incident, or who may have any further information, is asked to contact police online or by calling 101 quoting Operation Limewood.”
