A “desperate” robber held up an opticians in Hove, demanding money while armed with a pair of scissors.
Sussex Police said: “Police are appealing for witnesses following a robbery at an optometrists in Church Road, Hove.
“About 10.20am on Wednesday 27 November, a man entered Taylor-West and Co armed with a pair of scissors and demanded cash from the till.
“After first trying to steal a member of staff’s mobile phone, he then took a small quantity of cash from the till before leaving and running east along Church Road.
“The victim was not injured but was left very shaken by the ordeal.
“The suspect is described as white, of skinny build, approximately 5ft 7in and aged in his mid to late twenties. He had short dark receding hair and was unshaven.
“Notably, he had black teeth and the top two were prominent and larger than normal. He was wearing a black hooded top with the hood up, dark jeans and black trainers.
“The man made reference to being homeless and apologised for what he was doing but claimed he was desperate.
“A 28-year-old local man was arrested the same day on suspicion of robbery. However, police have since eliminated him from the investigation.
