Manchester City 4 Brighton & Hove Albion 0
Albion fell behind within two minutes at the Etihad as Belgium star Kevin De Bruyne capitalised on an error by Davy Propper.
Albion had chances but were wasteful.
Dan Burn made it into good positions and fired a ball across the City penalty area but there were no Seagulls players on hand to turn it home.
Neal Maupay was presented with some half chances but again failed to impress.
Sergio Aguero doubled City’s lead just before half time.
Aguero helped himself to a second goal in the second half and Bernardo Silva finished off the rout late on.
Albion now have a break until Saturday 14 September when they take on Burnley at the Amex.
One bright note was that young striker Arron Connolly made his Premier League debut, replacing Neal Maupay with around 25 minutes left.
