A man has appeared in court charged with raping two women in Brighton in separate attacks.
Mohammed Abedin Joinal, 29, also known as Joinal Abedin, appeared before the bench in Brighton on Saturday (11 May) when he was remanded in custody.
The jobless Bangladeshi national is due to appear before a crown court judge next month.
One of the attacks was alleged to have happened on the beach in Brighton in October 2017.
The second rape was alleged to have taken place in Kemp Town less than three months later in January last year.
Joinal is not believed to have known either of his alleged victims.
This afternoon (Tuesday 14 May) Sussex Police said: “A man has been charged with raping two women in Brighton in 2017 and 2018.
“Mohammed Joinal, 29, of West Street, Sompting, was arrested and charged with committing two counts of rape.
“Joinal is accused of raping a woman on Brighton Beach on (Thursday) 19 October 2017 and raping another woman in St George’s Road, on (Tuesday) 9 January 2018.
“Joinal, unemployed, appeared at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on (Saturday) 11 May and was remanded in custody to appear at crown court on (Friday) 7 June.”
